The Tim Horton’s Drive Thru and Why Your Message Needs to be Heard

The Tim Horton’s Drive Thru and Why Your Message Needs to be Heard

Jun 22, 2020 / By : / Category : Brand Building

Earlier in the pandemic I went to the drive thru at Tim Horton’s.

I remember saying to the employee at the window, “I came here today just to have some sense of ‘normal’ again.” She stopped dead in her tracks and I could see her eyes getting glossy from fighting back tears. She understood what I meant.

Not only is Tim Horton’s quintessentially Canadian and familiar, what I was truly craving was connection. Isolation has been hard, even for an introvert like me! (yes I am, for realz)

As I drove away that day with my dark roast (black), the aroma and that momentary socially distanced dialogue with a Tim’s staff person made me happy and gave me some sense of relief.

Humans are wired for connection and we need to be heard. The pandemic has proven this. According to an April New York Times article, “While traditional social media sites have been growing, it seems that we want to do more than just connect through messaging and text-we want to see one another.” (nytimes.com)
